Price point to quality – So glad I went with another Allen product. Affordable price point but great quality. I’ve been shopping around and couldn’t bring myself to pay over $500 for a bike rack. Lock work great and feel confident parking at the store with my bike on the back. Favorite feature is how it attaches to the car hitch. Great simple security and no wobble. Took me about 20 mins from opening the box to having it installed on my suv.

Love this rack – I absolutely love this rack and I’m very glad I got this instead of the frame mount version. We have pretty high end Mountain bikes ($2000-4000) and the thought of them banging together and scratching and damaging components makes me cringe. This works great in my truck receiver and I even use it with an adaptor in my Chevy Cruze. Works great to bring 3 guys and all their gear in one vehicle to riding destinations that are far away and be able to carpool to save on fuel.

Great quality product for the price. – Great quality product for the price. It secures to hitch very snug. No rattling. Locks to hitch and locks two bikes securely to the rack. I’ve owned three Thule bike racks over the past 14 years. This was much better quality. I highly suggest watching their Youtube video “Allen Sports Quick Release Hitch Rack Removal.” If they want to exceed product satisfaction for 100% of their users I would suggest Allen Sports include their install video and quick hitch release video next to their product on their web site. I’m not so handy with tools. Their instruction we not so clear and I had to hunt for the quick release video. If they could include the links on their install instructions it would of save me install time. I still gave them 5 stars for the product.

Amazing value – So I did a couple hours of looking at options for bike racks and came to this guy because at this price point, it’s a no-brainer. Secured locks on the tow, secured locks for your bikes, and its easy to fold up. It’s an unbelievable value and it’s lighter than the other $500+ one I was considering. I will say if any thief is smart, he’ll figure a way around the locks but it’ll take some thinking which thieves typically don’t have. Particularly with me when I’m riding around with my bikes because I just go from home to the trail and back with maybe one stop at a gas station.

Do Not Buy This Rack – I purchased this rack (Allen 200) after researching many of those offered by Amazon. After receiving the rack, I used it one time and discovered the arm which secures one of the bikes was defective. The ratcheting mechanism in the arm was faulty. I contacted Allen Sports via their web site asking for a new arm. They wrote back saying they required a video of the defect, a copy of the page from Amazon illustrating the product description, and a receipt from Amazon. I provided the requested information. The video was quite explicit regarding the faulty part. This began a series of multiple e-mail communications in which Allen proved to be unwilling to even discuss the product default. Instead, they kept insisting on new information in the proper software format. The original information I provided, including a video, was not satisfactory. I had to do an internet search to find their phone number. Allen Sports NEVER answers their phone. After more than ten e-mails, I gave up on Allen because I grew tired of their delays, prevarication and one line e-mail responses. If you are looking for a quality bike rack backed by proper customer service, DO NOT CONSIDER ALLEN SPORTS!

Do not load/lock bike as pictured. – I say again, do not load or lock your bike onto the rack as pictured without an additional lock of some sort. If it is indeed secured as pictured and locked at the securing hook, all you need to do is undo the front wheel hub and lift the bike right out of place (look at the picture). I tried this and it worked. If you put the bike in the other direction (rear wheel under the hook) then it is a bit more secure. Regardless, if it is out of your sight you better have a 2nd locking source. Other than this huge weakness it is a great rack for the money.

Great Bike Rack, But … – As for transporting bikes, this is one of, if not the best. Mounting is easy and even mounting two bikes only takes a minute or two at the most. The bikes are perfectly secure as my 1000 mile trip over various quality roads attests. It is well built and requires minimal and simple assembly. The trunk of my car can be opened and accessed even while the bikes are on the tray, but obviously not as easy as it would be without the rack. When not in use, the tray folds up neatly and easily.
