My favorite for many years, easy to fix the whistle – The trick to fixing the whistle is to poke the right size saftey pin or needle through each of the 3 vent holes. Move it around and open them up a bit. But first you have to pull out the silicon valve by pushing the little ball down with one fingernail while you try to lift it up and out on the other side with another fingernail, it’s tricky but the silicone is tough. Love that they fit in most normal cup holders and the bottle holder on my bike, that I can sip quickly and one handed, that I can pull all the rubber off and clean it every now and then. Also make sure to store it empty with lid off whenever not using so it can dry and not grow mold, best not to put anything with cream or sugar in it either. Also you can make an insulated cover with padding foam or neoprene and duck tape that works very well and is ultra lightweight and removable, then it becomes a thermos I use for tea when traveling/backpacking or to keep water cold. No bulky expensive and heavy double wall container needed! Also I like to have an 18 ounce that fits in my back pocket and for when I don’t need as much water on the bike etc. The insulated cover in the photo was made for my smaller 18oz bottle, that is why it’s a bit short on this 27oz one, but it still works well on this one.

Makes loud noise when you drink – The kanteen obviously doesn’t keep anything cold but if you put anything even slightly cold in it, it sweats all over the place and can make a mess. And it makes a loud noise through the air holes when you drink which can be annoying.

I can’t use it at night, by my bed, or bring it to work-it would be too loud. If Klean Canteen can ever figure out a sports cap design that is quiet though….they’ll have the perfect product!
